Felix was informed by the University's press office that "this was a student prank and not an official notice issued by the University's Estates & Buildings team. Whilst we recognise that this was intended to be a bit of fun, it has caused significant embarrassment to a number of staff members and is potentially damaging to the University's reputation... The crude replication of such notices by students undermines the work of University staff and will not be tolerated." A similar hoax also made an appearance at Stony Brook University in America.
