Qatari Consort visits College
Her Highness Sheika Mozah Bint Nasser Al Missned, Consort to the Emir of Qatar, visited Imperial last week to witness Imperial's progress in pioneering medical developments to help improve the health of tomorrow's babies. Chairperson of the Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development and President of the Supreme Council of Family Affairs, Sheika Mozah has spearheaded many higher education projects and established non-profit learning institutions for children and young people in Qatar.
On an official visit to Britain, Her Highness was accompanied by Dr Missned, President of Qatar University and Dr Al-Thani, Chairperson of the National Health Authority; she is also scheduled to meet the Prime Minster following the College visit.
Dr Tidu Maini, Pro Rector for Corporate Affairs, said: "It was a real honour for Her Highness to choose to visit Imperial. The Qatar government has long had an interest in how the latest scientific and medical advances can make an important difference to the world. Her Highness's visit to Imperial allowed us to demonstrate our research of the highest international quality, and of the highest relevance to mothers and babies."
Professor Stephen Smith, Principal of the Faculty of Medicine, discussed current medical research projects with Her Highness before inviting two senior research leaders from the Faculty to talk about their research in paediatrics.
