Imperial College Council approve pull-out plans
The Imperial College Council approved plans to pull out of the University of London on Friday 9th December. Imperial have had degree awarding powers since 2003, but they, have as yet, been unused. It is estimated that student's joining Imperial in 2008 will leave with Imperial, rather than UL, degrees. UCL, who also have degree awarding powers, will meet next week to decide whether to use them. The decision is not expected to be as straightforward as the one Imperial made on Friday.
The issues regarding intercollegiate halls and ULU leagues and sports facilities, raised by UL Vice-Chancellor, Graeme Davies, are as yet unresolved.
